Koh Samui is a Gulf of Thailand island in Surat Thani province. Chaweng and Lamai offer beach time, while Bophut adds a different local atmosphere. Mix an island day with a cooking experience or an offshore excursion, rather than spending the whole holiday travelling between sights.

Beach and island routes

Chaweng, Lamai and Taling Ngam are different parts of Samui. Choose a route that suits where you stay and the stops you want; a beach name alone does not tell you how much transfer time to allow.

Ang Thong by boat

Ang Thong National Marine Park is a separate archipelago reached on an offshore trip. Compare boat type, time on the water and any kayaking or walking included, especially when travelling with children.

Food and local experiences

Cooking courses offer an alternative to another beach day. Bophut's older shophouses also provide a different setting from the larger resort beaches. Keep time for a meal between planned activities.

Plan sea days flexibly

Samui is on the Gulf coast, so Phuket's seasonal pattern is not a reliable guide for every trip here. Check the forecast and the operator's sea conditions advice near your travel date.

Choose the correct pickup area

Give your actual hotel and beach area when booking. An airport, ferry pier and hotel pickup are different arrangements. For an offshore excursion, confirm the return plan before adding an evening activity.

Questions about visiting Koh Samui

Is Ang Thong part of a Koh Samui island tour?

Ang Thong is an offshore marine park, so visiting it requires a boat excursion. A land tour around Samui does not automatically include the park. Read the itinerary and inclusions for each activity.

How can I balance tours with beach time on Samui?

Keep one day for an offshore trip if that is your priority, then choose shorter island or food activities on another day. Avoid booking two full-day experiences back to back if you also want unhurried beach time.

Can I combine Samui with Koh Phangan or Koh Tao?

These are separate Gulf islands linked by boat routes. Check the service for your date and allow for the pier transfer as well as the crossing. Do not treat a ferry connection as a guaranteed tour pickup.

Does every Koh Samui tour include hotel pickup?

Pickup depends on the operator and activity. Check the covered areas, any supplement and the meeting-point alternative. Use the exact hotel location rather than only entering Koh Samui.
